SEND -1Success for ALL

Welcome

At Fairway we are passionate about inclusion and live by our school motto 'Success for All'. We strive to develop an interesting curriculum for our pupils to enjoy and flourish; while gaining valuable and transferable skills.

We believe in a holistic approach; treating each pupil as the unique child that they are; nurturing their love of school learning. Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do and at the core of our vision.

Through the successful implementation of our SEN policy, Fairway School aims to:

  • Eliminate discrimination.
  • Promote equal opportunities.
  • Foster good relationships between pupils with SEND and pupils without SEND.
  • Inform, educate and empower families so their children get the support they need to live the best life they can.
  • Endeavour to be fair, honest and transparent with children and their families.

Implementation

Fairway School will secure a well-organised, systemic approach to inclusion, and will work alongside the Local Authority (LA) to achieve our aspirations for pupils with SEND.

We will ensure:

• The involvement of children, parents/carers and young people in decision-making, allowing for ‘Pupil Voice’

• The early identification of children’s and young people’s needs

• Collaboration between education, health and social care services to provide targeted support

• High-quality provision to meet the needs of children and young people with SEND through Quality First Teach within the classroom, additional interventions and bespoke support plans

• Greater choice and control for young people and parents/carers over their support

• Successful preparation for KS3 transfer to Secondary School

• To follow the graduated approach outlined in the SEND Code of Practice.

• To monitor the progress of all pupils in order to aid the earliest identification of SEND .

At Fairway, we are privileged to be able to offer a SEND-friendly environment including our stimulating sensory room, sensational soft-play room and our fascinating forest; all of which are at the heart of our unique provision.

Impact

Fairway School will endeavour to ensure that all pupils, including those with SEN, will achieve and reach their full potential and prepare them for successful adult life.

Our vision for successful impact is to have happy pupils who have developed a love of learning at their own level while developing lifelong transferable skills. When children leave Fairway at the end of KS2, they take with them the happy and fond memories of their experience.
